The Ancient Theatre Of Epidaurus In The Peloponnese

Greece 2008

The ancient theater of Epidaurus, located in the Peloponnese region of Greece, is one of the most well-preserved and iconic examples of ancient Greek theater architecture in the world. The theater was built in the 4th century BC and could seat up to 14,000 spectators.

The design of the theater is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, which allow even a whisper to be heard from the center of the stage to the top of the highest seat. The theater is known for its perfect symmetry and the use of mathematics and geometry in its design.

The theater of Epidaurus was used for performances of ancient Greek drama, including plays by famous playwrights such as Sophocles and Euripides. The theater is still used for performances today, with a festival of ancient Greek drama held at the site every summer.

Visitors to the theater can explore the various parts of the structure, including the stage, the orchestra, and the seating area. The site also features a museum where visitors can learn more about the history of the theater and ancient Greek drama.

The theater of Epidaurus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered to be one of the greatest achievements of ancient Greek civilization. Its exceptional acoustics and perfect design continue to inspire architects and performers today, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in ancient history and architecture.

Barcelona

In 2006 I took my daughter on her very first trip outside the UK, in fact her first aeroplane flight anywhere!
The destination? Barcelona, we stayed in Vilinova La Geltru, but it was so very close by train to Barcelona we could not resist showing her the amazing sights of Gaudi's Barcelona.

This video will show the Casa Mila.
When Gaudi built the Casa Milà in 1912, most people had no idea what to think of it. The shape of the building is completely unique and like nothing the city had ever seen before. It is covered in limestone, glass and marble, and shaped by several waves that have an amazing effect on the interior of the building. Originally it was built as an apartment complex but now it functions as a museum and a venue that hosts several different art and cultural events.

An early look at Stolkholm

Back in 2006 when I had a owned a Canon EOS Rebel XT / 350D camera
I had a short weekend trip to Stockholm and I am so impressed with how crisp and clear the images are, but then again the air is super clean there!

You will see The centre /Palace/Government buildings as well as a ferry trip out to Skansen and the Islands.

Kokkeriet – Copenhagen

Looking back through my collection of Images from my Travels and whilst this Covid lock down is still preventing many from travelling, I thought I would revisit and offer some of the experiences, which were highlights at the time. Reliving the moments and able to share them with you.

Once again, the restaurant Kokkeriet is featured with a star in Guide Michelin Nordic Cities 2020.
I remember it as an amazing gastronomic treat that I will probably never get to experience again. neither would I want to, a once in a lifetime experience ! This is a soupçon of what we had in 2014. it comprised of their taster menu and accompanying wine menu.

The beautiful restaurant is located a bit off the hustle of the inner City in the cosy old quarter of Nyboder - the 400 years old housing blocks build for the navy.

Kokkeriet's interior design is charming, and the atmosphere is personal and more relaxed than at other of the city's gourmet restaurants. The menu is modern European, flavoured with Danish finesse and old traditions.
